Police Incident Report: Nov. 12 to 18

The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

 

Chester

 

Wednesday, Nov. 12

No arrests were made.

• At 1:09 p.m. Trooper John Mesham reported that a 47-year-old Middletown man was operating a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the northbound lane of Route 154 with a 43-year-old Hampton woman onboard when he struck a deer that entered the roadway in front of #182. The deer then entered the southbound lane and was struck by a 2001 Mercedes E320 operated by a 51-year-old North Branford woman. The Mercedes came to a controlled stop while the motorcycle driver and passenger were thrown from the bike, which came to rest on the centerline. The couple was transported to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar due to the severity of their injuries, although both were reported to be alert at the scene. No charges were indicated. 

 

Thursday, Nov. 13

No arrests were made.

• A motor vehicle accident without injuries in front of 28 Winthrop Road was investigated by Trooper Robert Hunter at 2:33 p.m.

 

Friday, Nov. 14

No arrests were made.

• At 4:30 p.m. Officer Todd Belcourt reported that a single family dwelling at 15 Baker Road was entered by an unknown suspect(s) and assorted jewelry and electronics worth $2,500 were taken.

 

Saturday, Nov. 15

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

Sunday, Nov. 16

No arrests were made.

• At 5:46 p.m. Trooper Mangham reported that between 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, a 20 horsepower Johnson outboard motor was taken from a 13-foot Boston whaler located in a parking lot at 10 Grote Road. The steering and throttle cables were cut during the theft.

 

Monday, Nov. 17

• A 19-year-old Essex man was arrested at 12:59 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, use and possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway. He was released at 2:30 a.m. on a $1,500 non-surety bond to the custody of a 51-year-old man pending a Dec. 3 court date.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 18

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

 

 
Deep River

 

Wednesday, Nov. 12 to Saturday, Nov. 15

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

Sunday, Nov. 16

No arrests were made.

• At 9 p.m. Trooper Robert Mangham reported that a 27-year-old man of Boston Post Road was inside the Ivory Pub on Kirkland Street when the rear window of his vehicle was broken. Nothing was taken from the vehicle. The case is still under investigation.

 

Monday, Nov. 17

• A 21-year-old man of Old Saybrook was arrested at 3:47 p.m. and charged the possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released at 6:09 p.m. on a $1,000 non-surety bond to the custody of his grandmother pending a Nov. 26 court date.

• A 22-year-old Westbrook man was arrested at 3:47 p.m. and charged with possession of heroin. He was released at 6:15 p.m. on a $1,000 non-surety bond to the custody of his grandmother pending a Nov. 26 court date.

• A 29-year-old man of Cedar Lake Road was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released at 10:40 p.m. on a $500 bond to the custody of his mother pending court arraignment on the following day.

• A larceny at 640 Industrial Park Road was investigated by Trooper Judson Howes at 4:35 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 18

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

 

 

Essex

 

Wednesday, Nov. 12 to Thursday, Nov. 13

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

Friday, Nov. 14

No arrests were made.

• At 3:32 p.m. Officer April Pawlow reported that a 43-year-old woman of Chestnut Street was operating a 2001 Volvo V70 in the westbound lane of Main Street near Edgewood when she swerved off the road and struck a telephone pole then bounced into the opposite lane. She was transported to the Shoreline Clinic with minor chin, neck, chest, and abdominal injuries. Office Pawlow applied for an arrest warrant against the driver on the charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway.

 

Saturday, Nov. 15

No arrests were made.

• A 52-year-old woman of Main Street in Centerbrook was issued a citation at 5:32 p.m. for making an unsafe movement from a stopped or standing position after the 2001 Saab she was operating struck the rear of a 2003 Subaru Forester operated by a 55-year-old woman of Chestnut Street in Ivoryton. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 154 and 153.

 

Sunday, Nov. 16

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

 

Monday, Nov. 17

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief at 36 Plains Road was investigated by Officer Salvatore Bevilacqua at 6:51 p.m.

• A larceny at 8 Collins Lane was investigated by Officer Salvatore Bevilacqua at 1:01 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 18

No arrests were made.

• A larceny at 50 Plains Road was investigated at 7:16 a.m. by Trooper Mark Testoni.
