Land Use in East Lyme, Ct

Increased residentaila development in our town increases our taxes.

Raw, open land land consumes $.37 for every $1 paid in property taxes.

Residentail Development consumes $1.37 for every $1 paid in property taxes. (much of that money goes to the education budget)

Our Community Plan of Development says to limit developement in the North end of East Lyme.

Friends of Pigeion HIll are opposed to the current sub-division application.

We are not opposed to an owner's right to develop his land.

This current application does not conform to our town regulations.

It is not an "Open Space Cluster Sub-division", nor does it take notice of the significant of the downstream flooding.

This historic piece of land also includes the historic Capt Tinker  Farmstead.  The home is in pristine condition with its original hand hewn beams, chestnut floor boards, orginal chimneys. (its air condidtioning system is completly un-obtrusive in this meticoulsy maintained homestead.)

The modern kitchen set in a 1750's fireplace is masterful.

The land is a part of the Latimer Brook aquifer as stated in the recently completed Niantic River Watershed study. Our town needs to protect this water supply.

I am in total agreement with Tom and Nancy. East Lyme citizens have to start protecting their environment and their water supply. It seems obvious at this point that if we don't stand up and object to anyone or anything that threatens to endanger our environment, no one will. I encourage everyone to take a drive on Walnut Hill Road in East Lyme (across from Saint Mathias Church) off of Chesterfield Road or Route 161. The Tinker Farmstead is an old house on the left hand side with stone pillars out front. It is a treasure and it should not be moved or destroyed. It belongs right where it is. Is nothing sacred anymore? We're going to stand by and watch someone destroy the house or move it somewhere else? WHY? This house is part of our history and it should remain exactly where it was built. Do we have to pave every single speck of open space or bulldoze everything in its way to create another asphalt jungle? What are they going to do? Tear down this beautiful historic home and then name the road "Tinker Lane" or something cute like that? No! Voice your concerns! Say NO! And if it happens, then fight to name the road after the person responsible for its destruction: "John or Paul or whomever, the Destroyer."

If I may, what is the name of the development company?  Is it Real Estate Services of Connecticut?  Same folks that put together Spinnaker and SeaSpray?
